Mr Kirae, yearly tenant of the old' school site at Redcliff (5 acros at £l a year), asked permission to sub-let. — Mr Barclay to inspect and advise the Board. An unemployed lady teacher (class E) supplied for relieving work until she can g(4 a permanent position. She had had no employment for 18 months. — The applicant to be given an opportunity tor locum ten ens work. A request for the painting of the Hook school was referred to the Building Committee, with power te act. Mr E Bishop's tender of dCI 6 for painting Waituna school and residence was accepted. A letter from the "Waimate Committee reported that there had been two big falls of plaster from the ceiling of the corridor, and in one case two children had a very narrow escape from serious injury. — Mr Barclay said that the second fall, on Tuesday, very nearly caused a vacancy on the Board, as about a square yard fell at his feet as he entered the school. — Architect to inspect and report, and the Building Committee to have power to act. It was suggested that if all the plaster has to come down timber should be substituted.
