CATTLE. Owing no doubt to the extreme prices ruling last week the market was well supplied to-day with 215 head, the bulk of which were good to prime bullocks. Und«r spirited competition the wholt wer« sold at prices equal to 25s per IOOIbs. for prime ox beef, medium and cow feeef 19s to 22s 6d ; b«st bullocks brought £10 to £11 15s, good do £8 to £9 10s, medium £6 to £7 15«, best cowi and heifers £1 to £9, medium £5 to £6.
SHEEP. Th« market was well supplied with 2544 fas *heep, most of which were fair to prime crossbred wethers with a few pens prime ewes. The butchers were all bare, and thinking that owing to the next sale being held on Tuesday thtre would not be many sheep in, bought freely, the consequence being that last week's prices were maintained, indeed towards the close of the sale there was a slight advaaee. Best crossbred wethers brought 15s to 16s -6d, one small pen extra large 17s, medium 13s to 14s 9d, best do ewes 13s to 14s 9d, medium lls to 12s. In fat lambs price* rangtd from 7« 6d to 12s 6cL
GBAIN. , Wheat. — There is a little demand for ■wheat, but most of the inquiry is for Oamaru velvet or tusean. Prices are as follows: — Best northern velvet 4s to 4s o£d, northern tuscan 3s lOd to 4s, southern velvet 3s 7d to 3s lOd, southern tuscan And other sorts 3s 6d to 3s 9d (ex store, sacks in ; terms). Oats. — Some holders are anxious to sell, and as there is very little inquiry the market has come down, Prune feed is selling at Is lid to Is ll£d, medium Is lOd to Is lid, inferior Is 6d to Is 9d, Sutherlands 2s to 2s lid (ex store, sacks extra). Barley.— There is hardly any business doing in this line, and the following 'prices are only nominal — prime milling 4s 4d to 4s 9d, medium do. 3s 6d to 4s, feed and milling 2s to 3b (ex store, sacks extra).
