Local News.

We have been shown a very fine photograph of Knox Church, Waimate, which has just been taken by Mr Fred Smith. The view ii taken from a position in Shearman Sheet, Noith East of the building, and shows the porch, front and North end. We may say the photogiaph is not disfigured with the usual row of people who like to be photographed. It would therefore make a good wall picture. Unmounted it is Bin. by 6in.,< and is intended to be used as an illustration to the history of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church now being proposed to commemorate the jubilee of that church next year. At a recent full meeting of the Directors of the Waimate Industrial Co-Operative Association, Mr E. Bannerman resigned his position as secretary and clerk to the Company, which he has held during the past three and a half' years. In accepting his resignation, the Directors unanimously passed the following resolution : " That Mr Bannerman's resignation be received with very great regret, and that it be placed on record that the Director 1 ! acknowledge his services to the Company since the commencement, first as Director, and later as secretary and clerk, and that to his energy in the interests of the Association its success is in large measure due." Thx Waimate Social and Debating Club debated Old Age Pensions on Thursday evening in good style. Lots of speakers of both sides and an almost unanimous favouring 6i some scheme of pensions, but a "wide diverge ence of opinion in details. ' *" ' " ,'/ r The Advertiser for Job Printing.
