GIBSON'S QUAY SPORTS.
| The purposed resumption of the Gibson's Quay Sports was prevented on Saturday, by the down pour of rain that fell sans intermission from noon until sunset. The Greasy Pole battle was, however, fought and won in the forenoon by an athletic specimen of humanity, who honestly earned all he got for his trouble —a side of mutton and one sovereign. The sports committee met in the evening, and formally postponed, the remainder of the Sports- until New Year's Day, when a grand handicap foot rar:e, the running high leap, and cutting off tho cock's head, and other amusements will take place.
