WELD-STREET SPORTS.

These sports, which had been postponed from tho previous day, now commenced in right earnest, and were very successfully carried out. The locality which had been selected presented a very gay appearance, the surrounding buildings being covered with flags, which had been kindly placed at the disposal of the committee by Mr M'Kay, of Revell street. The sports commenced with Foot Race, 100 yards, heats. Entrance, 2s. 6d. First prize, £4; second prize, £2.

There were five entries for this race, which was well-contested, Cohen carryiug off the first prize aud Pollock the second. t Gebat TVestland Handicap Foot Race, 400 yards. Entrance, 53. First prize, gold lever watch, value £15 ; second prize, £5.

Five entered for this race, viz., John Shirley, 18 yards start. — Pollock, 10 yards start. — Smith, 15 yards start. — Stewart, scratch.

Thiß race was very keenly contested, and terminated in Quigley carrying off the first prize, whilst Pollock secured the Becond. Wrestling — (Cornish style.) Entrance, sg.

First prize, £10 ; second,prize, £5.

The following couples commenced to wrestle : — Jones and Lobb ; Bray and Arthur; Pearce and Collins: Webb and Co<*ffir Jones, Bray, Pearce and Webb, obtained the first fall, and then Jones and Webb, Bray and Pearce wrestled for the prizes, which were awarded as follows :— Bray, fivst prize ; Joneß, second prize, - Standing High Leap.— Entrance, 2s. 6d. First prize, £3.
