NEW SOUTH WALES.

Wo extract the following from tho City and Money articles of the Sydney " Herald" :—: —

December 9.

There i 3 very littlo alteration to report in tho markets. The demand during tho day was limited, and a quiet week's business is looked for. A further advance was effectod in flour ; small sales were made as high as Ll7 for silk-dressed Adelaide, and even at this rate agents of Adelaide houses profess their unwillingness to quit a large line. In kerosene, we hear of sales at 2s <Lh\ to 2s 5d for parcels, and 2s 6d for small quantities.

December 10

The slackness in trade usual for a day or two preceding tho arrival of the English mail was perceptible to-day, and very little business was done. Small sales of leading brands of Adelaide silk-dressed flour wero mado at Ll6 to Ll6 lGs. In wheat there is nothing doing, nor likely to bo until reliable accounts as to the state of the South Australian crops are to hand. Rice and dried fruits in good condition are in good demand, and almost out of stock. Kerosene is firmer, owing to a reported oporation in tho Melbourne market; there is, however, hardly any remaining in first hands, and as the doralu is now fully due with a cargo of Chilian petroleum, no transactions of any maguitude are likely to tako place here. In liquors there is no ehacga to report, small lots of Ifenuessy's and Martell's brandy move olf at 6s 9d to (is lOJd., and some parcels are held for 7s ; cornsacks aro slightly firmer, but without any important sales. Wool is coming in very freely, several largo purchases have been made on private terms since public sales osi Thursday, but tho bulk of the clip is still going forward ou station account. The Swifisui'j and Jasou avo nearly full ships, and will sail within a week ; the other vessels on the berth will nlso havo quick dispatch., *• December 11.

Business continues extremely dull, and purchases limited to pressing requirements. Rum is slightly firmer, and small 6ales havo been effected at lis Sd. Pint als3 of leading brands are scarce, and command extreme rates. Second-class bulk brandies are also huproviu" iv value.
