BESIDES! MAGISTBATE'S COURT.

(Before Or. Or. RtzGerald, Esq., E.M.) jf Satubday, Decembeb 14. Attempting- to Commit a Felony. — Thomas Williams, alias Johnny Lewi9, was charged with this offence. Jacob Wagner deposed — That he was the proprietor of the Shamrock Hotel, Revell street. On the evening of the 13th inst. prisoner asked whether he could have a bed in the house. He was shown up to No. 19. Nothing more was seen of him that evening. At about twenty minutes past five on the following morning witness was awoke by his wife, who told him there was somebody in their bedroom. Witness immediately got up, and saw the prisoner leaving the room. He followed him down the passage, and prisoner turned into No. 18. Witness went into the room and found the prisoner in bed shamming to be asleep. He turned down the clothes, and told him to get up. Prisoner, who was partially dressed, searched about for the resf. of his clothes, and being unable to find them remarked, he had come into the wrong room by mistake. Witness then locked him in, sent for a constable, and gave him in charge. By the Police — Witness closed the door when he went to bed. By the Court — Prisoner was sober when he came into the house. At the request of the police, the prisoner was remanded till the 16th inst., for the production of additional evidence. The Court was then adjourned till eleven o'clock on Monday, the 16th inst.
