Business in tho import market during the week has been extremely quiet, no transactions of any moment having taken place to effect materially market values, imports having been all but nil ; the firm tone noticed in our last report has been maintained. Brcadstuffs continue to improve, and an advance of LI per tou on flour is fairly established ; indeed, holders are asking a still further advance, but no definite transactions have come to our knowledge ; we can only report the market very firm. Tasmanian oats have been placed afc auction at au average of 3s 2d per bushei. Bran Is 2d to Is 4d. Pollard lid per bushel. These prices hold out little inducement to importers, hut looking at present stocks, we think the prospect in favor of shippers. Potatoes, not first-class, have been placed at LlO 5s per ton ; first-class are scarce, and Ll6 per ton could bo easily realised. Chaff has sold for Ll4 10s per ton, market being well supplied. Tho demnnd for wines and spirits maintains the firm aspect alluded to in our last. With improved weather, which may be anticipated afc this season of (lie year, aud the usual impetus to business, a still firmer tone in values may be looked for.

£1344 9s 3d was collected for import duties during the week.
