Wo havo news from Hobart Town to the 291h ult. The " Mercury "of that date hai t the following market report : — Business for the week has openod with considerable animation, aud enquiry has been made for various descriptions of produce, both for export and for local consumption. Wo heard of one firm who werj in the market for 100 tons of flour, but wo believe no sale was effected hero. It is stated, however, that tho parcel has been obtained in Launeeston. A considerable parcel of wheat was sold to-day for homo consumption at 4s 7d per bnshel. The prico quoted is how from 4s 4d to 4s 7d [per bushel. Flour is quoted at from LlO to LlO 10d per ton, tho market being very firm. Sharps, L 6 10 to L 7 per ton; oats, 2s 3d to 2s 6d per bushel; pea 3, 3s 9d per bushel; hay (pressed), L 2 10 to L 2 los per ton ; potatoes, L 2 to L 2 10s per ton ; butter, 9d per lb. A parcel of eggs was sold to-day at 8d per dozen ; bacon, Gd to 8d por lb ; hams, 7d to lOd per lb. The "Launceiton Times" of tho 28th inst., has the following : — Although a quantity of breadstuffs have been shipped within the past few days to Melbourne, Hobarb Town, New Zealand, and Sydney, wo have no alteration in prices to report ; and business continues inactive. Wo have, therefore, merely to report the quotations given in our last issue, viz. :— Flour L 9 103 per ton ; wheat 4s per bushel — we hear of a large parcel having changed hands at that figure ; oats Is 9d to 2s per bushel ; Tasmanian oatmeal L2l per ton ; potatoes 30s to .35s per ton, including bugs ; hay L2toL 2 5s per ton. Dairy Produce — butter 8d per lb ; eggs 9d per dozen; bacon 8d to 9d por lb ; cheese lOd to Is Id. In the two last articles there is little or nothing doing.
