October 24.

Two women, mother and daughter, have been sentenced to death at Bathurst, for murdering the latter's illegitimate child. Mary'Nicholls has been convicted at Maitland of poisoning a water-cask. The Intercolonial Rifle Match has been fixed for the 17th 18th, and 19th of December. In the Assembly, to-night, Mr Robertson moved his want of confidence motion, and the debate is now proceeding. The division on the want of confidence motion in the Legislative Assembly resulted as follows: — For the motion, twenty-one ; against it, thirty-one ; majority for the Government, ten. Mr M'Leay has given notice of a motion condemning the present ad valorem duties as injurious to trade. .
