THE DOBSON MEMORIAL.

TO THE EDITOE OF THE WEST COAST TIMES. Sie — From the report of the meeting of tho Municipal Council of last evening, I observe that a letter was received from Mr Sale, respecting the erection of the obelisk now lying on the wharf, and that the Town Surveyor had recommended that it be placed near Eevell street, in Weld street. Such a position, I think, would be very disadvantageous and unwise^ as being so near the centre of traffic that it would be made use of for unmentionable purposes, and that it would be the means of creating the very nuisance the neighborhood there has already successfully petitioned the late Council against. I would propose, for various reasons, that the intersection of Weld and Sewell streets would be a far more suitable spot. First, that as "distance lends enchantment to the view," it would look well from all points of the compass. Next, that it being near the scene of his former labors would be more appropriate. And, also, that the surroundings are altogether more adapted to harmonise with the general idea of silent sorrow for the early death of one ■ who was beloved by all who had the honor of his acquain- ! tance. I would also suggest that it be enclosed with a railing, and lit up at night. I am, &c, Mentor.
