THE HON. JOHN HALL.
This gentleman, who is Postmaster-G-eneral of the Colony ; one of the leading and most able members of the Colonial Executive ; and the momber of tho Cabinet who has most interested himself in securing tho passing through the General Assembly of tho County of Westland Bill, may bo expected to arrive in town to-morrow afternoon by coach from Christchurch. Thero should be somo little demonstration of welcome on his arrival, but but not any of an oppressive character immediately after his conclusion of a two days' most fatiguing journey. Duriug Mr Hall's sojourn amongst us, a suitablo opportunity will no doubt bo taken of giving him a reception such as is duo to his position and to his servicos to the County. With reference to Mr Ha^'s disclaimer of his reported appointment as Superintendent of Westland, tho " Lytlolton Timos," in whoso columns his lettor appeared, says: — "The Hon. Mr John Hall has denied the statement that he was to bo tho first nominated Superintendent of Westland. He has not, however, denied that ho will probably be tho Governor's delegate when tho County of Wcßtland is proclaimed. Mr Hall deserves tho honor which will attach to him who sets tho now lnaclunery in order ; and his insatiable appetite for work ought to find a congenial, if not altogether comfortable field for its operations iv Westland."
