The Eangatira sails to-morrow morning with the English mails. Several robberies have taken place hero lately, and the burglars have not been arr#sted,

The Eoman Catholics have established a monthly paper entitled the " Southern Cross." There is no business doing, owing to the departure of the mail. The corn market is quiet at last quotations. Monday, Sept. 30. ! The Sarah, from Mauritius, brings news to the 29th- of August. The expected arrival of the Prince had caused much excitement. The Governor (Sir Henry Barkly) had forwarded despatches to the Cape of Good Hope, urging the Prince to visit the island. Lyster's Opera Company opened their season with eclat on Saturday. The weather is again very stormy, with rain. There is no alteration in the corn market. Tuesday, Oct. 1. The iErated Bread Company is to be wound up. Tho steamskips Eoyal Shepherd and Lubra are to be withdrawn from trading to the south-east coast, owing to tho want of support afforded them. It is reported that' a mast, apparently that of a large ship, has come ashore at Marino, below Brighton, about ten miles south of Adelaide, Mv Schafe, the German pedestrian, arrived in Adelaide last night. The corn market very quiet. Buyers offer 4s 6d for wheat, but there are no •ellers. Flour LlO to Lll, Thursday, Oct. 3. A tremendous gale has been blowing all night, with hailstorms and rain. News had been received, per Jane Bell, prior to her sailing from the Mauritius, on the 28th August, of the arrival of the Galatea at the Cape of Good Hope. This news has put the public here on the alert. The corn market is brisker. Sales of wheat have been made at 6s 6^d to 7s. Sales of country flour have been made to the extent of 150 tons, at LlO 15s. The cargo of Mauritius sugar, ex Jane Bell, was offered to-day at auction, but only 800 bags were sold. Eations, L 24 to L 26 10s ; white crystals, L3B to L 39 7s 6d. Friday, Oct. 4. Arrived — Edith Smith, from Mauritius. The captain distinctly denies the news propagated by the captain of the Jane Bell, as to the arrival of the Galatea at the Cape. The Federal Conference Bill has passed the Assembly. The Lyster Opera Comj>any draw full houses, in spite of the unfavorable weather. Mr Beaumont, on his first appearance, in the " Bohemian Girl," was most enthusiastically received. There has been a heavy fall of snow in the Far North. Rain continues in Adelaide. The corn market is firmer. Considerable sales of wheat have been made at 4s Bd. ; buyers offer that price, but there is little offering, There is no change in flour. The cargo of deals ex Eobert Dickson was offered for sale by auction to-day. One-half was sold, at an average of syd per foot.
