An extraordinary birth took place yesterday at Hospital Hill. A sow pig belonging to Mr Field ca9t a litter of ten, each of which l.ad a bulldog's head, with the hair of a dog half way down tho body. The' hind-quarters and feet were those of a pig. The animals did not squeak as pigs do, but gavooutthe sounds of puppies.—" Mount Alexander Mail," Oct. 4 There have been many definitions of a gentleman ; but the prettiest is that given tho othor day by a lady : — "A gentleman," said she, "is a being who combines a woman's teuderptsji with a wan'g courage."
