AUSTRIA
Retrenchment has commenced. A large portion of the Imperial retinue has been dismissed, and considerable reductions have been made in the salaries of the Court functionaries. The Court expenditure has been reduced from 7,500,000 florins to 5,000,000. The army is to be reduced to a peace footing. Archduke Albrecht is expected to be appointed Generalissimo of the Austrian army. The German population of Austria are taking steps for the preservation of their connection with Germany.
