On the 21st inst, in the Legislative Assembly, the Government were defeated by a majority of two, on amotion for the production of papers respecting the recent changes in the Customs department. Since then, a motion for the appointment of a commission to inquire into the Customs department has been carried. The AttorneyGeneral has obtained leave fiom the Privy Council at Home to appeal against the decision of the Sydney judges setting a&ide the conviction of Bertrand for the murder of Mr Kinder.
