DUNEDIN.
The Daily Times, of the 7th, reports I— A fair nmount of Dusiness continues to be dono, though tho state of tho market keeps transactions in most goods within narrowed limits. The flout market is, at present, quiescent, with unaltered pi ices. Hams arid bacon are firm at Is 6d, at which price some small parcels havo been placed, have been made of bottled beors —both stout and ales — and prices obtained contrast favorably with recent quotations. In teas and in sugars transactions havo been made, parcels to arrive Jiavjog been quitted at full rates.
The following is from the same paper of tile Bth :— There has been but a meagre amount of business doing througlf the day — the knowledge of the English Mail being close at band having produced the usual effect of suspending' any important operations. Wo heir of nothing doing in the flour market, nor of anything worth reporting in any artiole. Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn, , and Co. succeeded in placing the drapery and slops, comprising the stock in B. Bebarf aid's estate, at tolerable prices.
