Ex-President Davis's health is res*ored. Tho popular excitement ngainst him hns abnlcd, nnd numerous petitions on his behalf from ladies have been presented. His trial will shortly commence in the civil court.

The Provisional Government is cordially supported by tho people, and a strong desiro is shewn to resume former relations towards tho National Government.
The rigours of military rule aro gradually relaxing, but tho republican party condemn the pacifio policy of the President, declaring his reconstruction plan as illegal.
The Amorican cotton trade shows a good supply, with ho falling off ; tho receipts at New York since August Ist have been at the rato of 830,000 lbs. per annum.
The burning of tho American whaling fleet in the North Pacifio by the Shenandoah ha 3 caused great angor against her commander.
Ketchum, Son and Co., bankers nt New York, havo failed, owing to a junior member forging gold cortficates and absconding ; tho defalcation is fivo millions dollars ; tho delinquent has since boen arrested.
