Tho import duties received at tho Customhouse during the wcok ending tho 4th November, amounted to L2GBS 19s 2d. Duty paid for tho month from tho Ist to 'tho 31st Octobor, L 13059 5s 6d.

During the month ending the 8 1st October, tbcro wore 13,026 oz3. gold exported, tho duty on which amounted to L 3406 8s 7d. From tho Ist to the 4th October there wore oxported 4302 ozs, on which LIOO7 10s Gd duty was paid.

The markets for nil kinds of goods continues quiet, demand for the interior nnd town trado being slack, and tho demand existing for shipment being but moderate Tho flour market is very firm at the ruling rates of tho day. It is understood that ot the late cargoes direct from South America, but Httlo remains in importers' hands. However, notwithstanding that heavy shipments havo been made, tho supply of Chilian is too amplo to allow of any present material addition to rates. In Adelaide flour but little is doing, and no alteration in prices. The demand manifested some days sinco for oats has, to a laigo extent subsided. It has been found that the qiuntity held by growers exceeded tho estimate formed, and buyers are disinclined to incur the expense nnd risk of transmission to the Duuedin market, added to tho prices asked by producers on the spot. In miscellaneous business nothing of n. special character has occurred, nnd current quotations aro substantially unchanged.
