CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR HOKITIKA.
A meeting of gentlemen took place last even* ing, at (he Shaunook Hotel, with reference' to the formation of a Chamber of Commerce. Tho following resolution was proposed by Mr. S. Palmer, seconded Mr. J.C.Henderson, "Thatthis meeting is of opinion the timo has arrived that a Chamber of Comjncroe should be formed to pro-
protect the commercial interests of Hokitika, and in order to carry out tho same a committee of nine gentlemen bo now appointed to draw up rules and bye-laws, to be submitted at a meot ing to be held at eight o'clock, on Wednesday evening next, at the Shamrock Ilotel, Revell street." The resolution was put to the meeting, and resulted in the following gentlemen boing appointed as a committee to cany out tho object of tho meeting— Messrs R. Reeves; J. 0. Henderson ; Win. Hepburn ; Wm. Eicke ; James •Clarke ; Josiah White ; Andrew Mowat ; Robert Ecclesfteld ;R. M 'ln tyre.
