REP. RUGBY

MATCH WITH TANK BRIGADE TO-DAY’S BIG GAME ON THE PARK Fast and interesting Rugby should be seen on Spriggens Park this afternoon when the return representative match between Wanganui and the New Zealand Tank Brigade will be played. In this first engagement, last May, both teams gave a great showing of rugged strength in the forwards and backs. The visitors won by 19 points to 12, but the home side hopes to make good that defeat to-day. . The personnel of both teams differs I from that which played three months [ago. On the Wanganui side, D. McCarthv, who played on the wing, has been chosen for the full-back position. J. Hayman and J. F. Farley occupy their identical positions at centre and wing-three-quarter. G. Pearce, who played an outstanding game at halfback in the first match, will partner C. D. Brinsden in the five-eighths line. A. A. West, a Taranaki player, who has been giving some high-class exhibitions as half-back, will play at the best of the Wanganui scrum. The forwards represent a lively pack who can be expected to contest every inch of ground. Reviewing the Tank Brigade team, the Wanganui men will find all the forwards fast and heavy, and will have to contend with a pack that can fan into devastating attacking movements. The visitors’ pack include R. M. McKenzie, the former All Black, C. S. Passmore, W. C. Porter and G. H. Humphrey, all robust men. Against Wanganui in the first match C. F. Sullivan played on the wing instead of at centre. F. N. Rosenfeldt, one of the new wing three-quarters, scored a try and converted three tries against Wellington. F. F. Furey and K. Peake are new five-eighths developed in trial games. M. P. Donnelly played at first fiveeighths in the first match with Wanganui but he has been shifted to halfback in place of C. K. Saxton. H. E. Johns is the full-back. The personnel of the teams are as follows: — Tank Brigade.—Full-back, H. E. Johns; three-quarters, F % N. Rosenfeldt, C. Sullivan and R. F. Buckingham; five-eighths, F. F. Furey and K. Peake: half-back, Donnelly; forwards, G. Leeks, R. M. McKenzie, K. Arnold, G. H. Humphrey, G. B. Nelson, D. Poutney, C. S. Passmore, W. C. Porter. Reserves: W. P. McPhail and T. Pritchard (backs) and K. Ladbrook and C. V. Kneebone (forwards). Wanganui—Full-back, D. McCarthy; three-quarters, B. Howard, J. Hayman and J. F. Farley; five-eighths, E. D. Brinsden and G. The curtain-raiser will be contested by Carriers and Beavers and is scheduled to begin at 1.30 p.m. The representative engagement is timed to commence at 3 p.m. Mr. W.
