JOCKEYS’ PREMIERSHIP L. G. MORRIS AT HEAD OF TRAINERS. Tuesday marked the end of the seventh month of the 1938-39 racing season and it finds both the jockeys' and the trainers' premiership being very keenly contested. Invariably, however, each autumn finds the leaders in both divisions singling themselves out. W. J. Broughton has been one of New Zealand’s most consistent riders for many years and his latest form has been outstanding. A recent winning “trot” has taken him past 11. N. Wiggins to the top of the list, and it would occasion little surprise to see him steadily increasing his lead. Wiggins, Morris and McTavish occupy their usual prominent positions near the top, while Tattersall is also upholding his position as a front rank rider. A very pleasing feature is the fine tallies of the apprentices Chaplin, Evans, Cullen, Caddy and Spratl, all of whom are riding well. Following arc the leading riders:
