PATEA (From Our Own Correspondent) PATEA, March 1. Mrs. Blakely, South Island, is the guest of Mrs. S. Gray. Miss Mabel Adams, Auckland, is the guest of her brother, Mr. L. T. Adams and Mrs. Adams. Mrs. Holt, Hastings, is the guest of Mrs. L. Jennings. Captain R. t W. Haedow and Sgt.Major J. F. Peacock, have returned from the military camp, at Waiouru. Mr. S. Gray, who has been an inmate of the local hospital; has returned home. Mr. Harold Palmer was a visitor to Patea yesterday with the Auckland bowlers. Mr. Everett, Te Aroha, who is touting with the South Auckland bowlers, was the guest of his daughter, Mrs. F. Bostock, during their visit to Patea.
Mrs. A. A. Carey, president of the South Taranaki Federation of Women’s Institutes, is attending the Dominion Council, at Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. Gunn, Rutland Street, are holidaying in Hawke’s Bay. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Cunningham have returned from the South Island. TAIHAPE Mr. L. V. Hamlin, of the Taihape railway staff, is on a holiday visit to Auckland. Mr. Jack Little is on a motor tour of the North Island. Mr. and Mrs. W. Appleby, of Te Kawhatu, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Spooner, of Taihape. Mr. A. W. Robbie, a member of the staff of the Taumarunui branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is under transfer to Taihape, in place of Mr. D. M. Mackay.
Mr. J. Mortland, superintendent of the Taihape Fire Brigade, leaves on Saturday to attend the annual conference of the United Fire Brigades’ Association at Wanganui. Mr. H. Collings, deputy superintendent, will also attend the Fire Brigades’ Association conference.
