OPENING OF NEW BLOCK

AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY. SCIENCE OF BIOLOGY. [ Per Press Association. J AUCKLAND, Feb. 27. What the president, Mr. W. H. Cocker, termed as an important step forward in the history of the Auckland University College, was taken this afternoon when a new biology block, erected at a cost to the Government of about £40,000, was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Hon. P. Fraser. Referring to' the importance of science the Minister said that advances in knowledge did not necessarily mean advances in happiness. Man in the future must make up his mind whether he would use his new powers for good or for destruction. Most of the leaders in pure science undoubtedly would wish to restrain man from the misuse of their discoveries. Mr. Fraser wished the teachers and others present and future students all success and expressed the hope that a true scientific spirit would always pervade the building.
