THREE YEARS’ DRAUGHT BROKEN
RAIN IN SOUTH-WEST QUEENSLAND. DANGER OF FLOODING IN VICTORIA. SYDNEY, Feb. 28. Bauntiful rains have fallen over a large part of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria in the past 48 hours, partly breaking the protracted drought and replenishing storage dams in Burrinjuck and along the River Murray. Eastern and northern districts in Victoria received a thorough drenching avid now there is danger of floodings of some Gippsland Rivers. Queensland reports state that fourinches of rain at the week-end has broken three years’ drought in the south-west. In Adelaide the deciding Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and Victoria was washed out because of heavy overnight rain, further showers falling during the day.
