WOMENS INSTITUTE
UPPER WAITOTARA. The monthly meeting of the Upper Waitotara Women's Institute was held last Thursday, when there was a good attendance of members, also two visitors. The president, Mrs. B. Annabell, welcomed all present and opened the meeting. The balance-sheet read by the treasurer. Miss M. Chesswas, showed a substantial balance. The roll call "My Favourite Song” was well responded to, and the competitions for the day were well contested, the results being as follows:—Best arranged vase of flowers: Mrs. Bell 1, Mrs. Kobestein 2, and Miss Thomas 3. Best sponge-cake: Mrs. Bell 1, Miss Allen 2, Miss Thomas 3. A very amusing competition was won by Mrs. Dalliso.n. After the hostesses. Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Satchwell, had served afternoon tea, the competitions for next month were arranged as follows: Best posy of flowers, and three pieces of shortbread. Motions of sympathy were passed tc Mrs. C. Cross and Mrs. L. Allen in their recent bereavement. The meeting was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
