LLANGOLLEN’S FINE LED PRACTICALLY ALL THE WAY The favourite Llangollen put up the best performance of her career to "in the Herries Memorial Cup. She led practically all the way, but was strongly challenged over the final stages by Hot Box, and then by Golden Sheila. However, she held them off and won narrowly. Golden Sheila came home well, while Hot. Box ran a sterling rftce. As they passed the stands Llangollen was leading Round Up, Black Musk, Golden Sheila. Glen Abb and Jack Tar, with Hot Box, Lady Montana, Scotland and Valamito following. Black Musk was two lengths behind Llangollen along the back; then came Golden Sheila, Hot Box, Glen Abb, Round Up and Lady Montana Llangollen and Black Musk were on terms entering the straight, with Golden Sheila a length away, followed by Glen Abb, Hot Box, Lady Montana, Malagigi and Round Up. Hot Box challenged half-way down the running, then Golden Sheila rjut in her claim on the inside, but Llangollen held on to win by a head from Golden Sheila, with Hot Box a neck away. Lady Montana was fourth, followed by Scotland, Round Up, Malagigi. Tooley Street, De Friend and Black Musk.
