SPANISH OFFICERS DECIDE WILL CONTINUE STRUGGLE SURRENDER SLAUGHTER FEAR PARIS, Feb. 26. The newspaper L’lntransigeant declares that the resignation of the Spanish Cabinet is imminent, but Colonels Lister, Modesto and Galan, who fought to the end with the Catalan Army, told the newspaper Le Soir that they had decided to continue the struggle. “We have weighed the situation carefully and have concluded, despite the odds against us, that we can fight cn and win,” they said. “People seem to forget that if we surrender 10 times more blood will flow than if we continue fighting. In the first case it will be slaughter house blood, whilst in the second case it will be blood lost heroically in battle.”

PROBLEMS SOLVED
TO MUTUAL SATISFACTION BURGOS, Feb. 26. The Nationalist Foreign Minister has issued a statement saying that the conversations between Senator Berard and himself were carried on in an atmosphere of mutual courtesy, which permitted some of the problems outstanding between the two neighbours to be solved in a satisfactory manner. Senator Berard, after the signature of an agreement resulting from the talks, left for France, considering his official mission has terminated.
STRUGGLE TO CONTINUE
LEFTIST DETERMINATION MADRID, Feb. 26. Leftist organisations, meeting at the invitation of the General Union of Workers, decided that it was necessary to resume the function of the Popular Front national organisation in order to continue the struggle for Spanish independence. The decision is being communicatee! to Senor Negrin. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Republican Union, Socialist and Communist Parties, two trade union federations and anarchist federations. DE JURE RECOGNITION TURKEY’S ATTITUDE ISTANBUL, Feb. 25. Turkey is giving General Franco de jure recognition.
