WANGANUI JUNIOR CRICKET
THE FINAL ROUND BEGUN RESULTS OF SATURDAY’S PLAY The final round of the Wanganui Cricket Association’s second grade competition was begun on Saturday, under perfect weather conditions. Wickets were good and outfields very fast. As a result some very good scoring was seen.
Wanganui won from Technical Old Boys on the first innings, time promably saving the former from an outright defeat. The two Marist teams had rather a close game, both sides putting up respectable scores, with the A team doing a bit the best and avenging its loss to its sister team in the previous round. The Aramoho-United game was notable for a great eighth wicket partnership by Cullimore and Palmer, of the United team, who put on 99 runs after their side had seven wickets down for seven runs, and for another fine partnership by A. Crafar and Stapleton, of Aramoho, who put on 141 before being separated. Technical College met the Band on the College ground, the band just failing to gain an outright win. Best batsmen were: A. Crafar (Aramoho) 94, J. Palmer (United) 63 not out, C. Tuffin (Marist B) 58, K. Cullimore (United) 54, K. Patterson (T. 0.8. 51 not out, E. Puddle (Marist A) 51 and V. Stapleton (Aramoho) 52 retired.
