TAIHAPE FITNESS WEEK
EARLY MORNING PARADES BIG DAY ON THURSDAY (Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Feb. 27. No less than 35 enthusiasts attended the early morning parade last Saturday, which was the last day for physical “jerks.” Mr. D. Revell, who was in charge of the squad, received a hearty vote of thanks for his efforts. The big day in connection with “Physical Fitness Week” will be held next Thursday, March 2, when a monster parade will take place, followed by a sports programme, which includes a physical drill display by pupils of the Taihape District High School.
READING ROOM TO CLOSE | The public reading room at the Town Hall is to be closed to-morrow, February 28. It is hoped to provide a more suitable room at a later date. TAIHAPE BAND AT WAIMARINO SHOW The Taihape Band rendered a programme of musical selections at the I Waimarino show, held at Raetihi on i Saturday. • TAIHAPE SHOW RECEIPTS ’ The takings at the main gate at the Taihape show last Thursday totalled £75, during the day, and £54 at night, compared with £73 (day) and £32 I (night) last year. The car gate reI cepits amounted to £23 Bs, and the I grandstand takings £5 12s 6d. The | proceeds of the dance totalled £32. ST. PATRICK’S SPORTS ! The Taihape St. Patrick’s Day ' Sports Club has made representa■tions to the Retailers' Association re--1 questing the closing of shops from 2 I p.m. to 4 p.m. on the day of the I sports—Saturday, March 18.
