LIVESTOCK MARKETS

SECOND FORDELL EWE FAIR The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on the above sale held last Tuesday as follows: To a fair attendance of buyers we offered an entry of 11,000 sheep. Approximately 3000 two-tooth ewes were yarded and this class of sheep maintained late rates, well grown two-tooths making 26s to 28s, while medium quality class of ewe made from 23s 6d to 25s Bd. Some splendid lines of four and fiveyear ewes were yarded and competition for the good class of ewe was quite keen but ewes with mouths that were worn were hard to quit, passings being very frequent. A specially advertised line of 470 four and five-year ewes realised 20s, 735 fiveyear 17s 7d, 185 five-year 18s. Two hundred and eighty-four four-year ewes on account Miss Sutherland, Fordell, realised 19s. The six-year and sound-mouth ewes yarded met with a dull sale, most of the offering being passed at auction. We quote: Four-year ewes 19s, four and five-year ewes 19s 3d to 20s, fi ve -vear ewes 17s to 18s Id, low condition five-year ewes 10s 3d to 14s, mixed age ewes 15s, two-tooth ewes 26s to 28s, medium two-tooths 23s 6d to 25s Bd. small 17s 6d to 225, medium four-tooth ewes 19s 4d, shorn b.f. lambs 8s 7d to 9s 4d, medium ewe lambs 12s 2d.
