OHAKEA NOTES

SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. (Own Correspondent.) OHAKEA, Feb. 25 The annual picnic of the Sunday School was held at Tangimoana Beach last Saturday. The function was a combined affair with Rongotea and Tangimoana Schools joining in. There was a good crowd present, but owing to unpleasant weather conditions, the enjoyment of the day was somewhat marred. The time was spent playing games and concluded with afternoon Lea. SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. The school committee held a special meeting on Monday night to make arrangements for the school picnic on Tuesday at Manawatu Heads. Mr. K. Vile presided, there being present Messrs. H. Ellery, J. Capstick and R. Bartlett. It was decided that each family provide provisions for themselves and that it be pooled. Ar-

rangements were made to have hot water and ice cream provided on the spot. It was decided to purchase apples for distribution and that each tiny tot be given a toy. A programme of races as drawn up by the headteacher was approved and offers of trophies for these races were accepted with. thanks. It was decided to award special prizes for sewing and agricultural science. Each child in the lower classes is to receive a gift book. Given a fine day the function promises to be a greater success than ever and indications are that a large crowd will be present.
