EARLE STAKES FIELD
MORE INTERESTING RACING REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS Interesting fields are engaged throughout the programme for the concluding day of the Wanganui Jockey Clubs autumn meeting, and with the general holiday there should be a large crowd present this afternoon. The Earle Stakes is the principal event on the programme, uid with the majority of the Wanganui Cup contestants again on hand it should be another good race. A review of form, with prospects for to-day, may be appreciated bv intending investors.

FORDELL HACK HURDLES Of £150; one mile furlongs) furlongs.) Newcomers to the hurdle race are Ohanga Lady Hoariri. Don Erma and Disturbed, but two of Thursday's place-getters in Lady Stella and Entheos should again be prominent. Entheos would have a good chance if closer to his field than on the opening day. Ohanga impressed when he won at Opunake and looks like making a useful hurdler. Lady Stella won well on Thursday and the rise of 141bs. in the handicap should not stop her. Lady Hoariri will be making her debut in public over battens, but she has been hunted. Of the three on the minimum Disturbed might be dangerous, but the form horses are LADY STELLA. ENTHOS, OHANGA. SEDGEBROOK JUVENILE HANDICAP (Of £150; five furlongs.) As on the opening day. there will be considerable interest in the race for two-year-olds. La Bru was Thursday's winner a couple of strides from the
post, and few will want to go past her to-day. Military Maid was a winner at Marton in the spring, and her recent failures may be overlooked in view of her seconds behind Globe Trotter at Awapuni and Ecstatic at Marton. Allez is troublesome at the barrier but showed a lot of pace on Thursday. Algerian has impressed track-watchers at Hawera. He is a halfbrother, by Beau Fere, to Lowenberg. Lord Midas showed speed on Thursday. Royal Huntress, Peail of Asia and The Tryst may be prominent among the remainder Three that mav make most appeal are LA BRU MILITARY MAID. ALLEZ. LANDGUARD MAIDEN (Of £150; six furlongs.) The seven engaged in the maiden race should provide a good race, for the form is now a little more exposed. Le Marquis was runner-up on Thursday and his turn cannot be fa., off. Little Dorrit, the minor place-getter, ran a good race, and another that pleased was Ruling Star, who made up a good deal of leeway and finished fast on the inside of the placegetters. Darthura was fifth, ahead of Ihe Smiler and March Easy, and she should again finish in front of her stablemate, March Easy. Parian was produced at Woodville and was well backed, his second to Prediction on the concluding day suggesting that he should be an early winner. Backers will probably prefer PARIAN, LE MARQUIS, RULING STAR. BRUNSWICK HACK HANDICAP ■ itlf 1'150; seven and a-quarter furlongs. Vadanoe has not raced since the late spring, when he won smartly at Otaki. White Gold disappointed on Thursday, when she made all the running but stopped badly. Joe Louis has not showed much recent form but he was a good winner a year ago. Drachma won well at Trenthani and appears to be right on form. Hunting Mint has not raced much this seasci but won the Trial Handicap here last winter. War Lap was a winner at the Egmont meeting and should be improved as a result of Thursday's race. Mischel has shown improving form, but Haile Selassie and Peach Blossom may not appeal. Best backed may be DRACHMA, VADANOE, WHITE GOLD. EARLE STAKES ( if £300; one mile and a-quarter.) The presence of Amigo tends to add considerably to the interest in this mile and a-quarter race, for it will be remembered that he threatened to play a prominent part in a similar event at Marton. He may. however, be reserved for the sprint. Brazen King was handicapped on Thursday in being compelled to act as pacemaker. That does not suit a stayer. Tiger Gain is evergreen, and it would not surprise to find him again in the picture. Taitoru did not display his usual dash in the Wanganui Cup, but he should appreciate the shorter distance. The Bigot pulled himself to pieces in the cup race. Play On impressed when he won at Levin and Otaki and he is going to be hard to head off. The danger in tne lightweights must come from Parquet. In the absence of Amigo a trio that will carry a lot of monev would be BRAZEN KING. PLAY ON, THE BIGOT. HARRISON HACK HANDICAP (Of £175; one utile anil a distance.) This is not a large field but it presents a problem for backers, as at least half a dozen of the runners have good chances. Red Witch, finishing fast on Thursday, made a dead-heat of it with Morning Flight, and these two will have another great duel at similar weights to their first-day imposts. Te Huia won over seven and a-quarter furlongs on the opening day, but he finished on well and should stay out the distance. Amatory may be expected to improve, and Dark Eagle would only need to reproduce his Hawera form to have a great chance. War Lap is not outclassed, but a win for either of the pair on the minimum would be a big surprise. Best backed may be RED WITCH, .MORNING FLIGHT, DARK EAGLE. MATARAWA HACK HANDICAP it if £150: six furlongs.) Interest in this race will be centred on the trio well up in the handicap. Sternchase has the best record and showed that he is in form when he won at Woodville last Saturday. Trebor has not won this season but he was winner of this race twelve months ago and should have a good chance. Pretty Lass has run some sterling races this season and will have many friends on her Egmont win. Amoroso has pace but may find the others rather too hot. Deficit is not able to reproduce his three-year-old form, and Baron Bold and Phil would have to improve on anything they have shown. Most money may come for STERNCHASE, TREBOR, PRETTY LASS. CAMPBELL HANDICAP (Of £225; six furlongs.) Thought the sprint field is not as strong as could have been desired there should be another interesting race, especially if Amigo is one of the contestants. He is set to concede 131 b. to Laughing Lass, but that should not be beyond him. He won with a bit in hand on Thursday. Laughing Lass has yet to win this season but she should pay a dividend today. Notium won this race twelve months ago. Life Guard has plenty of pace. Sporting Gift is again in good form, but Airing is stated to be an unlikely starter? Form points to: AMIGO, LAUGHING LASS, NOTIUM.
