CALL FOR RECRUITS
SATISFACTORY RESPONSE. [ British Official Wlreleaa. ] RUGBY, Feb. 22. The Supplementary Air Estimates cover a net expenditure ot £7,990,100 and provide for an increase of 6000 in the personnel of the Royal Air Force. The Air Council states that the satisfactory response to the call for recruits has resulted in the personnel authorised being almost reached by the present date. In order to permit the present level of recruiting to be maintained, it is desired that the maximum may be increased to 102 - 000.
It is also stated that since the Supplementary Estimate of July last greater progress than was then expected has been made in deliveries of air frames and engines, the construction of stations and factories for passive defence, and the extension of the balloon barrage. An appropriation-in-aid of £300,000 is for supply part of the aircraft required for the re-equip-ment of the Royal Air Force in Indie
