PATEA Mrs. L. T. Adams returned yesterday from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. J. Jackson, Wanganui. Canon Malcolm was a visitor Io Patea yesterday in connection with the Centenary Cathedral appeal. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Parsons will be interested to hear they have a small daughter. Mrs. W. Amon is the guest of her mother, Mrs. F. Lund. Mr. P. Begley, Patea. has been chosen to represent the Taranaki subcentre at the West Coast championships, at Wanganui, on Saturday. He will contest in the 440yds. and 220yds. hurdles. Mr. Colin Roots, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Roots, Patea, has been appointed to a position in the Customs Department, Wellington. WAVERLEY Mrs. A. I. Flett, of Onehunga, is the guest of her father, Mr. A. E. Eames. Miss B. Elmslie, “Hillside,” has returned from a holiday spent with relatives in the Wairarapa. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Barrow, who have been the guests of Mrs. W. Swainson, Manakau, have returned home. TAIHAPE The Rangitikei A. and P. Association has received a telegraph message from Hon. F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, stating that he has much pleasure in accepting the invitation to attend the association’s annual show today (Thursday).

The headmaster of lhe Taihape District High School (Mr. J. C. Whibley) attended a conference of headmasters at Wanganui, last Friday. Mr. R. C. Schofield, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, at Te Awamutu, was a recent visitor to Taihape. Miss Rewa Smith left last evening on a visit to Auckland. Guests at the Gretna Hotel, Taihape, yesterday included the following:— Clonel E. Puttick (Weling:—Colonel E. Puttick (Wel(Wellington), Major Hunt (Wellington), Dr. Bennett, Mr. S. Burridge (Wellington), Mr. McCay (president of the Royal Agricultural Society N.Z.), Mr. Ogilvy (Masterton), Mr. and Mrs. C. McNeill (Tirau). Mr. H. Hewetson is away on holiday. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Haydon are spending a holiday at Paraparaumu. Rev. E. T. King has returned from a visit to Christchurch and Dunedin.. Mesdames W. H. Maclean (Taihape). and V. Smith (Taoroa), left yesterday morning on a brief visit to Wellington. Major-General J. E. Duigan was a guest at the Gretna Hotel, Taihape, last evening, and will inspect the military camp at Waiouru to-day (Thursday). Mr. S. Percy, clerk of Court at Taihape, has resumed duty after his annual vocation. Mr. I. Muncaster, who relieved Mr. Percy during the latter's absence, has returned to Auckland.
