MEN’S SKI-ING CHAMPIONSHIP CUF PRESENTED BY CASCADE BREWERY TRIP TO MT. RUAPEHU NEXT WEEK-END (Own Correspondent). TAIHAPE, Feb. 22. At an informal meeting of the committee of the Otaihape Alpine Club, .Mr. E. P. Duncan, of: the Cascade Brewery, presented to the club a handsome cup for the men’s championship ski-ing competition. The cup was won at the annual ski-ing sports last September by Mr. K. A. McKenzie, of Taihape. The ladies’ championship cup is held by Miss M. Watt, of Taihape. The club intends holding a social meeting in the near future to present these trophies together with the prizes for the novice, slalom, and downhill races. A handsome pewter beer mug has been presented by Mr. Ralph Dick, and this is to be used as a trophy for a downhill race, held once a month during the skiing season, from the R.S.C. Hut to Salt Hut.

In connection with the trip arranged for next week-end as a result of the “Fitness Week,” it was decided that transport will leave Taihape about 9.45, and that all members or others contemplating making the trip be advised to inform the club secretary, Mr. B. Seccombe, or the captain, Mr. ’d. M. Mackey, as early as possible. It was arranged that the club provide breakfast at the huts at the Chateau for a small charge.
