Special interest is attached to the ■ launching of the battleship King I George V. by the King at Walker-on-j Tyne to-day, for it is 33 years since a i British warship has been launched by | a reigning monarch. Added importI ance is given to the occasion because the King George V. is the first new battleship for the Royal Navy to be put afloat for 14 years. She is the first of the new ships now being built and projected in substantial numbers, which, says The Times, will restore the strength of the British Navy to the standard demanded by conditions of the modern world.
