WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 3 p.m. General Situation.—A very extensive anti-cyclone covers the Tasman and New Zealand area, its centre lying to the west of Cook Strait. Forecast.—Winds: Mainly light to fresh and rather variable with sea breezes on the coast but otherwise southerlies predominating over the North Island and northerlies or north-westerlies from Cook Strait southwards. Seas (N.Z. waters): Slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Winds rather variable but with light to fresh south-easterlies predominating in the northern portion and north-westerlies in the southern portion; seas slight to moderate. Weather: A few morning fogs probable and occasional showers in the extreme South, but otherwise fine with rising temperatures. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 10 hours 40 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Temperature: Maximum, 77deg. Fahr.; minimum, 41deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.16 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.54 a.nfi. Phases of the Moon for February :—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
