YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING AT BILLS (Own Correspondent). BULLS, Feb. 22. The committee of the Bulls District Young Farmers’ Club met on Monday. Present: Messrs. C. B. Anderson (chairman), C. E. Vile (advisory president), F. J. Thorby,, D Brightwell, S. J. Avery, junr... C Harris and S. Last-Harris.
The Rongotea Club’s challenge for a cricket match was accepted, providing that a team and a suitable day were available. Mr. Vile spoke on correct procedure at club meetings, giving much valuable advice. It was considered too early yet to state how many would be attending the camp in Wanganui in June, and Mr. Dingwall’s letter regarding the camp was held over until later. The annual general meeting of the club was set down for Thursday, March 25. and a large attendance of present and prospective members is anticipated. The chairman reported that he had arranged, in conjunction with the local Pig Club, and Mr. Sorensen, Taranaki district supervisor for the screening of films depicting matters of interest in the pig-raising industry, in the Town Hall supper room on February 27. Members of the Pig Club and the Y.F. Club will provide supper. To give club work an added interest it was decided to form a library, and further investigations will be made for the purchase of a film projector, which would be a definite asset to the club. Several other matters relating to debating, radio talks, field days, etc., were discussed, a lengthy and businesslike meeting concluding with the customary vote of thanks to the chair.
