PATEA GIRLS’ CLUB
MISS TOMPKINS FAREWELLED. (Own Correspondent.) PATEA, Feb. 21. Members of the Anglican Girls’ Club met at the vicarage on Monday even-, ing to farewell Miss G. Tompkins. Musical honours were accorded Miss Tompkins on anival and she was wearing a frock of Marina blue cloque with touches of scarlet. Competitions held were wan by Misses O. Edwards, G. Kelly and Rev. Walton. Miss Joan Nelson, leader of the club, expressed good wishes to Miss Tompkins for a happy holiday and said she would be gieatly missed as she had always been keen and interested. On behalf of the girls she asked Miss Tompkins to accept a hat box. Rev. W. H. Walton, expressing good wishes, presented Miss Tompkins with a book of snapshots of scenery in the North and South Island. Replying, Miss Tompkins said she had always enjoyed the club evenings and talks by Rev. Walton. When 1 she returned she would be pleased to give a talk on her travels. Those present were Mesdames W. H. Walton, T. E. Roberts, Mr. Ballaid; Misses Greeves, Olive Edwards, Joan Nelson, Lorna Martin, Thelma Stevens. Gwen Eddie. Joan Clarke, Kathleen Rook. G. Ashford, Nellie Carey, Gladys and Pearl Kelly.
