HINDU SENT TO BORSTAL

FOUR THEFTS OF MONEY INDECENT LETTERS WRITTEN [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 20. Described as having been “a bit of a problem” since coming to New Zealand three years ago, Gosai Dullabh, aged 20 years, a Hindu labourer, appeared before Mr. Luxford, S.M., on four charges of the theft of sums of money ranging from 5s 5d to £1 17s 6d. “He is regarded very unfavourably by fellow countrymen and his chief pastime seems to be the writing of indecent letters and sending them through the post to other Indians,” said Detective-Sergeant Doyle. The magistrate took the course of sending accused to Borstal for two years.
