IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION
BETTER THAN ANY CURE DR. MARTIN TWEED’S RETURN [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 20. Dr. Martin Tweed, formerly medical adviser to the Plunket Society, who has returned from eight months spent abroad, stresses the importance of prevention rather than cure of disease and says the only way to prevent it is by periodical examination of all the people. He found there was great interest in the work of the late Sir Truby King and he also found out how right he had been and what Sir Truby King had said had been absolutely sound. Dr. Tweed did not agree with the way people to-day rushed off to try new diets and fads. He said that if the national health insurance scheme meant the maintenance of health it would be a great step forward.
