BONNY GLEN-SOUTH MAKIRIKIRI BRANCH
BON VOYAGE TO MRS. D. SIMPSON Perfect weather favoured the Bonny Glen-South Makirikiri branch W.D.F.U., when it celebrated its third birthday at the lovely home of Miss Simpson. Guests of the afternoon were members of the J-arton branch, and Miss McDonald, president of the FordeliMangamahu branch. Apologies were received from Mesdames Harris, Willis and Oliver. After a leisurely walk round the garden, the party assembled on the lawn, when Mrs. Stevens, on behalf of the Marton branch, took the opportunity to present Mrs. Duncan Simpson, who leaves shortly for an extended holiday abroad, with a bottle of eau de cologne and a book, in appreciation for her most valuable ' services in the past, and also wished
her "bon voyage” and a safe return. Mrs. Gudopp, also, in a neat little speech, presented Mrs. Simpson with a travelling cushion, accompanied with the branch’s best wishes for a most enjoyable holiday and a safe return. Mrs. Simpson suitably replied. The party then adjourned to the dining-room, where a beautiful birthday cake, decked with three candles, took pride of place amongst the wellladen table of delicacies. Miss McDonald was asked to light the candles, Mrs. D. Simpson blew them out, and Mrs. F. Brice was called upon to cut the cake. A most delightful afternoon was concluded with the singing of thNational Anthem. The next meeting of the Bonny Glen-South Makirikiri branch will be held on March 8, for which the competition will be "something new from something old.”
