W.D.F.U.

OKOIA BRANCH. FLOWER SHOW. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent in the Okoia Hall on February 16, when the W.D.F.U. held their annual flower show. The president, Mrs. W. P. James, welcomed members and friends. The judges were Mrs. Moorby and Miss W. McLeod. The following is the prize list:— Champion bloom: Pride of Nobilong, Mrs. lan Higgle 1. Best Decorative Dahlias: Mrs. lan Higgie 1, Mrs. W. Strachan 2. Three Cactus Dahlias: Mrs. W. Strachan 1. Six Pams: Mrs. A. N. McLeod 1. Three Charms: Mrs. A. N. McLeod 1. Bowl of Zinnias: Mrs. Walter Jones 1, Mrs. W. Wright 2. Bowl of Flowers (Most artistically arranged): Mrs. C. Beattie 1. Mrs. lan Higgie 2. Jar of Flowers (largest collection): Mrs. Walter Jones 1, Mrs. E. Herlihy and Mrs. G. McLeod 2. Bowl of Nasturtians: Mrs. A. W. McLeod 1, Mrs. G. McLeod 2. Gladioli: Mrs. Walter Jones 1. Posy: Mrs. A. W. McLeod 1. Largest Collection Vegetables: Mrs. A. W. McLeod 1, Mrs. E. Herlihy 2. During the afternoon items ' were given by Mrs. G. Perrett, and much appreciated by all, at the conclusion of which opportunity was taken to present her with a bouquet and wish her bon voyage on the eve of her departure for Australia, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Hodder. A competition (flower) was won by Miss Christie, Fordell; baby’s coat and bonnet, Mrs. G. McLeod; basket of vegetables, Mrs. Chesswas; lucky hand shake, Mrs. J. Brandon. A most delicious afternoon tea was then served and the afternoon concluded with the presentation of prizes.
