AIHAPE ROADS AND STREETS
BOROUGH FOREMAN’S REPORT. (Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Feb. 20. The borough foreman (Mr. J. M. Scott) presented the following report at Friday’s meeting of the Taihape Borough Council on work carried out during the past month in the borough:— Roads and Streets.—Moa, Goldfinch, Huia and Kokako Streets, and Kiwi, Mataroa and Ellis Roads have been trimmed and graded. A track has been formed for the rubbish truck on Hautapu Street terrace. The rubbish dump has been levelled off with the grader. Two more storm sumps nave been recessed in the Main Street. The contractor is progressing satisfactorily with the widening of Mataroa Road; the bulk of the cutting will be completed this week. A progress payment on the work is now due. Footpaths.—Twelve chains of Ellis Road footpath have been trimmed. A portion of the Kiwi Road fence on the footpath loading to the overbridge has been moved back and the work wili be completed at a later date. A start has been made on preparing the Regent Theatre footpath for concreting. Pipeline.—Three visits have been made to the pipeline, and two leaks and three blow-outs repaired. Waterworks—Local. One broken water connection and two leaks have been repaired in the local reticulation. Drains and Sewers. —Three blocked sewer mains have been cleared and the septic tanks visited.
