PHYSICAL FITNESS WEEK
TAIHAPE'S PROGRAMME (Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE Feb. 10. The following further programme has been arranged for Physical Fitness Week:— Tuesday.—7 a.m. io 7.40 a.m., morning physical exercises; 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., swimming tuition for ladies; 5.30 p.m. to 6.15 p.m., swimming tuition for men; 6.15 p.m., athletic meeting. Wednesday, February 22.—7 a.m. to 7.40 a.m., morning physical exercises; 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., swimming tuition for ladies; 5.30 to 6.30 p.m., swimming tuition for men. Thursday, February 23.—7 a.m. to 7.40 a.m., morning physical exercises; baseball match; parade to church service to be held in the Town Hall. Thursday, March 2.—Afternoon: Grand procession and demonstration in the Oval Domain; full details will be advertised later In addition to the above physical exercises by the school children will be undertaken each morning during the week. Admission to the swimming baths for tuition will be free.
RAETIHI PLANS
(Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, Feb. 19. The committee responsible for the organisation of the “Fitness Week” celebrations has drawn up the following programme, and it invites the general public to respond by either attending or participating in the functions arranged. Tuesday, February 21.—Swimming carnival at the local baths commencing at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 22.—At 2 p.m.: Progressive croquet tournament at the Raetihi lawns. Invitation to attend and participate in the game of bowls at the Raetihi Bowling Club. Thursday, February 23.—At 2 p.m.: Invitation to the public to witness a demonstration of drill and folk dancing by pupils of the Raetihi School at the school grounds. Friday, February 24.—At 1 p.m.: Inter-school swimming championships at the Raetihi Baths. 7 p.m.: Demonstration and camp fire by the’ Boy Scouts at the camp site. Saturday, February 25.—A.P.H. and I. Association’s Show which is to include the Plunket Society’s baby show. Swimming Instruction.—On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m. The swimming baths will be strictly reserved for adults desirous of learning to swim. Competent instructors will be present and no children or swimmers will be admitted. The non-swimming public is earnestly invited to take advantage of this unique opportunity. On Saturday afternoon a cricket match took place, while the croquet lawns, tennis courts and bowling green were thrown open to visitors. Special services appropriate to the occasion were held at the various churches on Sunday.
