■ BIG SCORES AT MARTON (Own Correspondent). MARTON, Feb. 18. | Big scores were the run of the day !at Marton, on Saturday, when Taihape Railway met Marton, and Old Boys played Porewa. On Ihe No. 1 wicket Taihape batted first, running up them largest score of the season. Fleet (75) gave a hurricane display (reating al! the bowlers with abandon. F. Bailey (37) also helped (o put on 80 odd for the fourth wicket. Marton, fielding only seven of their regular players missed many chances. R. Shield was the most effective bowler getting five for 47. Marton opened quietly, Shield’s wicket going with seven on the board. Louden (27) and Amon (30) were associated in a solid stand. At 6.20 stumps were drawn, leaving Parkes (31) and Corbalfis (45) not out batsmen. These two played steadily, giving no chances. On the second wicket Old Boys put on 254, their innings dosing at 5.15, which left Porewa only an hour and aquarter to get 255 runs. Porewa had lost four wickets for 56 at the call of time. A feature of the game was the big hitting of Old Boys, Wysocki (54), A, Newcomer, Wilson (42), and A. Duncan retiring with 31. For Porewa R. Parkinson got six for 59. Details: Taihape Railway D.
