PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Piunket Society Mrs. H. D. Robertson, piesident, presided over the following members:—Mesdames H. D. Bates, Cole, Currie, Davies, Hine, McGregor, McLean, McPhail, Ryan, Talboys, Widdowson, Woollams, and Miss Stanford. Apologies for absence were received .from Mesdames Adams, Deacon, Jenkins, Millward, O'Neill, G. H. Robertson, and Wilberloss. The Piunket nurses report for the month of January indicated that there were 865 old cases on the books, and 72 new cases. Visitors to the offices included 662 adults, 585 babies and 81 children, totalling 1328 in all. Visits paid to homes numbered 233. In the pre-natal section there were seven new cases, 47 return visits and 52 old cases oiYthe books.

The matron of Karitane RospTtal reported that 18 babies and nine mothers had been admitted during January and 17 babies and 10 mothers were discharged. Out-patients numbered six. Cases had been admitted from Wanganui, Palmerston North, Raetihi, Taumarunui, New Plymouth and Raurimu. Donations were received from the following, to whom the society extend their appreciation and thanks—Taihape Piunket Society £5, Hunterville Piunket Society £2 2s and Gonville Sewing Circle £2 2s.

The Stewart Karitane House Committee reported that a good supply of linen had been purchased as the re-

serve was very low and a carpet in the Mothercraft Home had been renewed.

The presides reported that Miss Kurth had been engaged as cookhousekeeper at the Stewart Karitane Hospital. This appointment should prove very satisfactory and helpful to the nursing staff.
