NO CABINET
POSITION IN BELGIUM BRUSSELS, Feb. 15. Belgium is still without a Cabinet. M. Pierlot, a Catholic ex-Minister, is trying to form a Cabinet. M. Hubert Pierlot was Minister ol the Interior, Social Welfare and Public Health in the de Broqueville Cabi-
net, June to November, 1924. In the latter month, following the resignation of the Government, he informed the King that he was unable to form a Cabinet. He became Minister of the Interior in the Theunis Cabinet, November, 1934, to March, 1935. REXISTS RESIGN (Independent Cable Service.) BRUSSELS, Feb. 15.
Six prominent members of the Rexist (Fascist) Party have resigned because of the opposition of the leader, M. Leon Degrelle, to Doctor Mertens’ appointment to the Royal Flemish Academy. The Belgian Cabinet resigned on February 10 as a result of the withdrawal of the support of the Liberals after Doctor Mertens’ appointment. Doctor Mertens was sentenced to ' death after the Great War for co- ' operation with the Germans.
