OPERATING AT A LOSS
TRANS PACIFIC AIR MAIL SERVICE PAN-AMERICAN SUBSIDIES WASHINGTON, Feb. 15. Pan-American Airways has asked the United States Government lor £736,000 in a lump sum contract for carrying mails across the Pacific. Hitherto they have received £400,000 a year, but it is said that the present trans-Pacific service is operating at a loss of £lBO,OOO a year.
